Hand Woven Pure Thai Silk Scarf Olive
This large, hand woven, fair trade, silk scarf is produced by a women's co-operative in Eastern Thailand.
The scarf is woven in panels of three, interlinking, colours. The central panel is a soft brown which changes, with the introduction of a soft yellow/ green thread, to produce an olive tone, followed by lighter soft green panels. The scarf is finished with a brown fringe.
The silk gives an attractive sheen and the interplay of thread and colour gives delicate tonal changes to the scarf.
The artisan group which makes these pure silk scarves, like the group which produces the hand painted silk and cotton mix scarves shown elsewhere on the KIENA website, is recognised locally for the superior quality of the items it makes.
The villagers undertake the entire production process; they feed the silk worms the mulberry leaves, collect the cocoons, unravel the silk thread, dye the silk, create the designs and hand weave the textiles.
